Hongxing Kang joined Dr. Gu’s research lab in 2019 and now is a 3rd JDP student in the Joint Doctoral Program between San Diego State University and the University of California, San Diego. Before grad school, Kang’s work was about inorganic/polymer chemistry and applying conductive polymer energy storage devices, such as asymmetric supercapacitors. Currently, his research is mainly focusing on electrocatalytic and photocatalytic small molecule conversion and synthesis. Such as CO2 reduction, biomass oxidation, and small organic molecules synthesis via electrochemical methods. Outside of the lab, Kang loves outdoor sports including hiking, basketball, and running.
